The Husson University women's soccer team took on the Bengals of University of Maine-Fort Kent Wednesday night where the Eagles fell to UMFK by a score of 3-0.
The first half of the game was evenly matched as they went into the break tied at zero. After 51 minutes, the tie was finally broken as Chelsea Thornburgh scored to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead.
Less than a minute later, Brittney Thompson added a goal to bump UMFK's lead to 2. Thompson then scored another one to give the Bengals a 3-0 advantage.
The Eagles didn't go down without swinging as sophomore Natalie Aviolla took six shots, almost burying one midway through the second half.
Eagles sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Kenney made three key saves to keep the Bengals lead to 3.
Junior Lindsey Russell had a great scoring opportunity late in the game but missed wide.
The Eagles travel to the University of Maine-Farmington to take on the Beavers on Saturday, September 10 at 3:30pm.
